Olympus E-5 Specs and Teaser

The following Olympus E-5 teaser image showed up on Japanese website which is indicating of the new 4/3 system camera body on September 14/15 during the Photokina show. Photokina is the world’s biggest trade show for the photographic and imaging industries. It is held in September every 2 years at the Cologne Trade Fair, Germany. The announcement of the new Olympus E-5 will be very important as it will also help indicate where the future of the original 4/3 system is headed given that it has appeared this year that Olympus has been mainly focused on the newer micro four thirds system and that they have been virtually silent all of 2010 on anything 4/3 related.

The following are the rumored Specs for the new Olympus E-5:

  • Weather-proof (Magnesium) body
  • 12.1Megapixel sensor (either Panasonic or Kodak)
  • ISO 100 – 6400 in 1/3 or 1 EV steps
  • AVI Motion JPEG(30fps) HD video (720p)
  • 6fps
  • Can take a picture with sound
  • Mono mic with stereo external microphone input
  • 3 inch LCD screen with 920.000 dot resolution
  • 11 points full-twin cross AF sensor (phase-difference detection system)
  • 11 area multiple AF (contrast detection system)
  • Compact Flash and SD dual card slot
  • Built-in wireless flash
