Nikon D5100 Announced, 16.2MP DSLR Digital Camera

Nikon has officially announced and unveiled the brand new D5100 DSLR digital camera. The Nikon D5100 is the new updated and enhanced version of the previous D5000 model, with features a greater 16.2 Mega Pixel resolution, improved tilting LCD screen, and increased ISO range. The Nikon D5100 use the same EN-EL14 battery and charger as the Nikon D3100, as well as the 11-point AF system (single center cross-type point sensor), shutter speed range (1/4000-30s), flash sync speed (1/200s) and uses the same 420-pixel RGB 3D Color Matrix meter. In addition the D5100 will use the same 921k-dot LCD that the Nikon D7000 uses, the same 16.2-megapixel image sensor, ISO range (100-6400, expandable up to 25,600), and 3.5mm stereo mic input.

The Nikon D5100 will be available in Body Only format for $799 or with the 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AF-S DX VR Nikkor Zoom Lens for $899. The D5100 will start shipping in late April or early May and is already available for pre-order on Amazon.com.
